to our purpose and goal of reducing the amount of time school and school district staff spend evaluating, selecting, negotiating and purchasing software, textbooks, videos and learning resources. In an effort to support these goals ERAC has taken on other related tasks that support the acquisition of resources.
Based on the overwhelming feedback from districts via this year’s Technology Survey, on behalf of its members ERAC will:
- Continue to explore ways to work with districts to determine and develop software and learning resource needs that support curriculum and districts’ objectives.
- Seek ways to develop a close relationship with PLNet for the purpose of addressing district needs for educational programs. ERAC will act as a communications conduit for districts and ask for a PLNet representative to join its advisory committee.
- Work with districts to ensure that the resources they’ve purchased or licensed are fully utilized. ERAC will explore ways to include professional development opportunities in the various agreements that it creates. ERAC will also explore opportunities for professional development with the various partner groups in the province.
- Research and explore opportunities around shared services models that would result in efficiencies in various areas; this would include some centralization of resources. ERAC will communicate these opportunities to members but will not be part of any design or development of them.
ERAC would like to sincerely thank all of the districts that took the time to complete this survey in the detailed and thoughtful manner that was evident throughout the responses. The information that districts have provided will assist ERAC in negotiating ongoing and future agreements for resources and will also provide a rich source of data for ERAC to bring forward to the Ministry of Education, in order to illuminate issues that are important and relevant to districts.
