Purpose and Objectives

The 2009 Technology Survey was designed around some key questions: What trends are appearing? How are educators using the available technology? What are they considering for the future? Is technology changing the learning experience and, if so, how? In which areas are districts struggling? Why?

"Building a reliable, sustainable infrastructure with access to technology for all learners requires a sustainable model of hardware deployment, connectivity that meets emerging needs (e.g. unified communication), clear standards for teaching and learning, and a robust professional development model"
-SD#36 - Surrey District

The primary goal of the survey was to better understand what technology-related educational, technical and financial challenges educators are facing so that ERAC can continue to assist in implementing solutions and ensure that technology needs are being addressed across districts.

Fifty school districts completed the survey, showing districts believe that technology education and ERAC’s role are important considerations. In order to be able to provide comprehensive answers to the survey questions, districts were encouraged to work with a cross-functional team of staff representing both the technical infrastructure and the teaching/learning perspectives to complete the survey.
