ERAC NEWSLETTER

ERAC Commons is officially launched!

January 2012

Over the past several months, ERAC has been preparing a social networking site called the ERAC Commons. It's an open source site and we've been piloting the commons with several user groups.

Over the years, our members have often asked ERAC for a place where they could post feedback on resources, dialogue with each other and share information. There is much going on in districts that other districts do not often get to hear or know about and we hope that this site will enable more communication amongst districts.

We've created a teacher user group called ERAC4U in the site. Aaron Mueller, teacher librarian with the Vancouver School Board will feature various ERAC products each month and give tips on using the products in the classroom and how these products support learning. This month we've featured "Global Issues in Context" and "World Book". Users of these products are encouraged to post related items and share their experiences or any suggestions for other teachers on how to integrate these products that their districts may already have purchased. If there is any ERAC product that you'd like to see featured, please let us know.

The success of any community depends on its members, so please take advantage of this opportunity and share your ideas by joining the ERAC4U Group and registering first as a member of the ERAC Commons at www.eraccommons.ca. Thanks and Welcome!

"ERAC's annual District Contacts Meeting is very valuable and allow informal networking. Many districts are isolated and it's good to find out how others are problem-solving. New vendors come as well and there's discussion about new projects."
