ERAC has extended its TumbleBookLibrary agreement. TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books that teach students reading skills in a format they enjoy. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books, in order to produce an electronic picture book users can read or have read to them.

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books that teach students reading skills in a format they enjoy. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book users can read or have read to them.

Summary

With a variety of high-interest material, the TumbleBookLibrary provides enrichment to students who are reading independently. The library also provides support to students who require skill building, by offering them a variety of exercises that can match other areas of the curriculum. In general, TumbleBooks are a great addition to a reading program; students can use them independently or as a class. ESL and Special Education teachers have been particularly enthusiastic about TumbleBooks.

Details

A subscription to TumbleBookLibrary allows schools and libraries unlimited remote access to the entire collection from school, library and home. Access to the TumbleBooks collections is based on an annual subscription model. With a subscription, ERAC members will receive unlimited remote access and a direct URL link encoded with unique usernames and passwords that will enable students and teachers to access TumbleBookLibrary by simply clicking a link on district/school websites. They will also receive 24/7 access to usage stats and free bookmarks and posters.

As part of this agreement, ERAC members will be able to purchase the following TumbleBooks products:

  • TumbleBooksLibrary – an online collection of TumbleBooks
  • TumbleReadables – an online collection of read-along titles
  • TumbleTalkingBooks – an online and downloadable audio book library
  • TumbleBooksUNPLUGGED – an offline add-on to your TumbleBookLibrary collection (no Internet required to view the books/games)

TumbleBooksUNPLUGGED

The collection includes 125 TumbleBooks, 25 chapter books and 20 TumbleGames. Tumblebooks will send you a fully loaded USB stick which can be used to download the collection to your computer(s) or server. The free TumblePad 2.0 reader application is installed as part of the USB installation. You may download the collection onto your desktop computers, laptops, and netbooks.

TumbleBooksUNPLUGGED is perfect for:

  • School with limited bandwidth
  • Schools/libraries with computers not connected to the Internet
  • Schools/libraries wanting to limit Internet access (i.e: on children's computers)

Note: Each TumbleBookLibrary subscription includes a TumbleAdmin section where districts or schools can view usage statistics and update accounts.
