Designed for students in Grades 9 – 12, Reality Check! Evaluating Online Information takes students through seven lesson modules that build critical thinking skills for getting the most out of the Internet while avoiding its information pitfalls.

ERAC reminds members that Media Awareness Network's secondary school resource called Reality Check! Evaluating Online Information has been licensed by ERAC for use by all ERAC member Districts and independent schools at no charge. This resource can be accessed by teachers and students at www.learnnowbc.ca.
Summary
Reality Check! Evaluating Online Information takes students in Grades 9 to 12 through seven lesson modules that build critical thinking skills for getting the most out of the Internet while avoiding its information pitfalls. Applying a journalist's who-what-when-where-why- and-how framework, Reality Check! teaches students to go beyond the obvious: to exercise skepticism, compare information sources and apply basic investigative tools when researching on the Net.
How Do I Access This Resource?
Students and teachers from ERAC-member public schools and Districts can access Reality Check! by logging on at www.learnnowbc.ca. Students will need their PEN or full contact information, including a working email address, to register to access these resources. Teachers must register on www.learnnowbc.ca using their district email address.
Students: Click on 'For Students', then 'ERAC Services', then 'Reality Check'.
Teachers: Click on 'For Educators', then 'ERAC Services', then 'Realty Check'.
