Apple Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard"
Begins: February 1, 2008
Ends: April 30, 2008

ERAC has finalized an agreement with Apple that will permit schools and districts to order Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard” at the maximum volume discounted price. This represents a significant discount for districts that require a limited number of licenses. Under the agreement orders need to be batched at the district level and sent to ERAC who will in turn route them on to Apple. Ideally ERAC would like to see districts aggregate their volumes from their schools and then submit orders for a quantity in excess of 100. We appreciate that this will present a challenge for some districts and independent schools. ERAC will accept orders for smaller volumes and then consolidate them as required to ensure all orders get access to the $39.00 price. Ordering details and procedures are available through your district’s designated software contact. This opportunity is only available through to March 30, 2008.

Apple OSX - Panther (10.3)
APPLE: Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) District-wide License Program & Volume License Agreement (VLA); plus iLife Suite & Maintenance programs
Expired

This agreement was successfully completed in 2004 with pricing benefits and advantages going to ERAC members.

ERAC has completed negotiations on the Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), VLA , iLife.

Currently over 9000 units will be aqcuired for schools, either as site licences or VLA buys.

As other districts - large and small - complete their agreements, the overall figure will soon cross 10,000. The original price discount grid was based on Apple's tier point of 10,000 units. This discount and support from ERAC produced the final price to members.

Please note that the deal has three order aggregation dates - June 18th; July 7th; September 17th.

Districts wanting to complete software installations over the summer should submit orders by the July 7th date.

Faronics Deep Freeze and Anti-Executable
Begins: May 31, 2007
Ends: May 31, 2008

ERAC has extended the agreement with Faronics for Deep Freeze and Anti-Executable allowing districts to purchase licenses at discounted pricing for Windows and Mac computers. There is a significant installed base of Deep Freeze in BC school districts and BC Hydro e-points can be used to assist with the cost of these purchases. Deep Freeze instantly protects and preserves original computer configurations, eliminating routine IT maintenance while allowing complete unrestricted access to workstations. Anti-Executable prevents the launch or installation of any type of unlicensed or unwanted executable with a revolutionary whitelist concept.

In addition a new product called Faronics Power Save has been added to the agreement. Power Save uses intelligent energy management to ensure workstations are available when system resources are required, but conserving power during productivity downtimes. Power Save provides districts with real financial and energy savings on every computer deployed, as well as centralized workstation power status control.

BC Hydro will also rebate districts $3 per each Power Save license through their eCatalog programme, reducing schools' net purchase cost per license. Available for both Macintosh and Windows systems, Power Save assists districts who want to minimize the power consumption of their computers and understand the costs of that power consumption. Details about this product and the rebate program can be found here.

For technical and other information about this project, please visit the Faronics website to read a BC Hydro case study of the savings Delta and Vancouver School Districts realized by installing Deep Freeze on computers.

PS Planner
March 29, 2004
Expires: June 30, 2005

PS Planner has been developed by SD 38 (Richmond) to support teachers' classroom assessment of the BC Performance Standards. The term of the Agreement is from March 3, 2004 to June 30, 2005. During this time SD 38 (Richmond) will provide all then current ERAC members with a license to install, duplicate and use the initial PS Planner version 1.0, future version 2.0 (August 2004) and any subsequent versions 2.x. The license permits use on all ERAC-owned computers, and the home computers of their education staff. Installation or transfer of the software to any other education jurisdictions that are not members of ERAC is not permitted.

The initial term may be extended by ERAC on a school year-by-year basis. Upon expiry of the initial or any additional term of this license, ERAC may acquire a perpetual usage rights license for the then-current version of PSP for then-current ERAC members for a one-time fee.

Feedback received by SD 38 (Richmond) from the field-testing and pilot stages of PSP implementation will be incorporated into the design and development of PSP version 2.0. This includes changes such as, fixing identified deficiencies and adding desired enhancements to the user interface and specific reporting changes and requirements. Where ERAC requires other changes, e.g. to the PSP data tables and related structures, these will be separately contracted for development and inclusion in subsequent versions. SD 38 (Richmond) will retain ownership and copyright to all subsequent version of the PSP software.

Implementation and Training

Each ERAC member wishing to use the SP software and receive support, must designate an individual(s) to act as a train-the-trainer, first-level user support and contact for problem resolution. This individual(s) must attend a PSP training session prior to implementation of the software within their jurisdiction. Training sessions will be held in various locations around the Province and will cost $125 per seat for the half-day session plus the cost of travel for the attendees.

More information about PS Planner is available at:
