All The Right Type – Version 3.x
Begins: July 28, 2006
Ends: Ongoing

ERAC has established a new agreement for All The Right Type (ATRT). ATRT uses a classroom-tested methodology to develop keyboarding skills, good posture and suitable finger positions. Students work at their own pace, allowing teachers to monitor posture and technique. The record-keeping system frees teachers from marking and provides valuable feedback to students. While the focus is always on learning, a space race, fireworks, humorous cartoon puzzles, trophies and printable achievement certificates make hard work fun! BC schools use ATRT to support the Applied Skills curriculum. There is no cost to districts, schools or teachers for this version of ATRT.

CDX Automotive Software
Begins: March 15, 2007
Ends: May 15, 2007

CDX Automotive Software is a product that is used in the post secondary environment and it is also used by some secondary schools in their automotive programs.

The potential exists for ERAC to “piggy back” any purchases being considered by secondary schools on to the post secondary negotiations. This will provide opportunities for schools to realize discounts for Megapack ARK Plus, and General Service Plus, depending on the number of schools and groups that collectively participate. AEMAC (Advanced Education Media Acquisitions Centre) is the group at the post secondary level that coordinates purchases on behalf of colleges. AEMAC is in the middle of their negotiations with CDX and there is a small window of opportunity for any interested secondary schools to participate.

Before making a purchasing decision, ERAC recommends that schools and districts review and give each offer full consideration. These offers and an executive summary are available on the members only side of this site. Schools are encouraged to work with their ERAC district software contacts (listed in the contacts section of this website) and purchasing departments in reviewing CADD requirements and making purchasing decisions. The CADD Software Decision Guide, which was first published in June, 2005 and updated March 8, 2006, may be useful as a reference tool for these discussions (click here to view guide). If you have any questions or comments for ERAC regarding these standing offers, please contact Ian Mulcaster, ERAC Resource Acquisition Coordinator at 604-713-5598 or imulcaster@bcerac.ca.

Note: Due to the varied types of licenses available from providers districts can only combine Network Licensing with other districts for the UGS-Solid Edge offer and Cadopia-IntelliCAD. Only one purchase order may be placed.

Begins: December 15, 2005
Ends: June 30, 2007

The previous Riverdeep agreement, which ended on December 20th, 2005, was an opportunity for teachers to work with, learn and evaluate Riverdeep resources over an extended services period of 12 months. This agreement includes support materials, hosting on a centralized server and access to the 1-800-66-LEARN call centre. In addition, six test ID's for students were included.

ERAC and IBM/Riverdeep were able to determine demand and, as a result, reached a new agreement offering continuing solutions and pricing. It is outlined below. Districts/schools that purchased teacher ID's under the previous agreement will also be eligible for a credit up to 100 per cent of their initial license costs if any student or teacher ID purchased under this new agreement beginning December 21st is ordered as an annual subscription or straight purchase model. For detailed information on the credits that can be applied see the previous agreement announcement dated September 30, 2005, under Archived Software Initiatives or visit http//rd.sd91.bc.ca/riverdeep_dsp/erac/erac.html or contact Steve Cuccione at IBM.

ERAC has finalized an agreement with IBM Canada to provide Riverdeep's Destination Success resources to teachers and students across grade levels and subjects. • K-10 BC learning correlations
  • Learning Mgt System Version 3.0
  • Access to Teacher On-Line Tutorial and Prof D

The Riverdeep Internet-based resources have an existing and growing installed base in BC schools. A number of ERAC member districts have expressed interest in acquiring Riverdeep resources.

ERAC has been in discussions with IBM and Riverdeep to explore various approaches for a pricing model for district purchases but until we receive district feedback and confirmation of demand for this product we cannot negotiate a volume agreement. IBM and Riverdeep have agreed to an approach that would allow interested educators to use and test drive the Riverdeep resources over an extended period of time at very attractive prices. The results of the evaluation period will be used to assess demand and establish ERAC’s next steps and any subsequent timelines.

Riverdeep - Kid Pix
Begins: February 2, 2007
Ends: March 31, 2007

In ERAC’s recent surveys one of the top requests from districts was for an agreement for Kid Pix Deluxe 4. ERAC has been in discussion with IBM Canada and Riverdeep related to the licensing of this software and the potential now exists to secure provincial licensing. To execute an agreement of this magnitude ERAC would be required to aggregate sufficient critical mass from participating districts and finalize the agreement prior to March 31, 2007. It would be an “all or none” approach meaning that a district would either be in or out of the agreement – participation at an individual school level in this particular agreement will not be an option.
