Educational SoftwareActive InitiativesERAC has established the following Educational Software agreements on behalf of the consortium, in response to member districts' requirements. Please note that while ERAC has negotiated to make these products available to member districts, it does not have final control over the processes that companies require districts to follow in purchasing their products. ERAC has implemented a new CLP agreement with Adobe. Adobe provides popular software used throughout the education sector. Commonly used applications include Acrobat, Photoshop and Creative Suite products. This agreement operates in a similar manner as the previous agreement which expired September 30, 2009. It provides access to a wide mix of Adobe solutions at discounted pricing. ERAC members can expect to receive and enjoy the highest discounts available under Adobe’s volume licensing CLP programs.

Adobe K-12 Student Licensing Program ERAC has signed an agreement with Adobe that will allow students and teachers to purchase certain Adobe products at discounted prices for home and personal use. ERAC and Adobe recognize that educators and students should be given the opportunity to expand their learning environments outside of school time and this program will allow for the purchase of certain Adobe products for home use. ERAC and Software4students have created a secure web-based storefront that will allow qualified purchasers to buy full versions of popular software titles without districts and/or schools having to manage a separate program. ERAC has a new agreement to provide member districts with All The Right Type 3 Plus (ATRT). ATRT 3 Plus is a new, enhanced version of the software provided by the Ministry of Education in 2002. ATRT 3 Plus includes a number of technical upgrades and enhancements including multimedia, sound, music, narration and other reinforcements to maintain students’ attention and keep them motivated to develop their keyboarding skills. It will operate and function with the new Microsoft and Apple operating systems and is a perpetual license for network and stand-alone applications. Teachers may also install it on their personal computers. BC schools use ATRT to support the Applied Skills curriculum. There is no cost to districts, schools or teachers for ATRT 3 Plus.

ERAC has established a new agreement with Ingenuityworks for Crosscountry BC, Crosscountry Canada 2 and Photo Safari. Students learn about the relationships between places, goods and regions. In addition, they develop an understanding of their place in the context of this information. Crosscountry BC was developed collaboratively with 22 BC school districts, using BC content based on the popular Crosscountry Canada software. Crosscountry Canada 2 and Crosscountry Canada Photo Safari are now available as upgrades to ERAC members. Crosscountry Canada is engaging enough to keep students of all ages interested. The program is easily integrated into a multi-strand curriculum.

Destination Math and Destination Reading
ERAC has extended its agreement with IBM Canada’s K-12 Division for Destination Math and Destination
Reading. This agreement provides a simplified, cost-effective way for teachers in ERAC-member districts
to acquire perpetual teacher licensing for large group instruction, supported by professional
development opportunities.

Destination Math and Destination Reading - Riverdeep As a follow up to the BC ERAC sponsored Evaluation Program with Riverdeep's Destination Reading and Destination Math curriculum software, IBM Canada and BC ERAC have established an ongoing price model for these products that is available to all ERAC members. This agreement is not exclusive to those districts that participated in the Evaluation Program but rather available to all ERAC members.

ERAC Online Resource Database Bundle
This September, ERAC’s Online Resource Database Bundle will be expanded. It will still include an extensive EBSCO collection, World Book’s Complete Reference Suite, and Encyclopedia of BC’s entire
database but will also offer the Canadian Periodical Index (CPIQ), LegalEze (a legal research website providing access to the current and archived laws of BC) and 12 Gale Virtual Reference Library
Books ERAC has purchased. The bundle is available to member districts and associate member independent schools at a low annual subscription price. Collectively, these databases offer a
comprehensive set of resources for students in Kindergarten through to post-secondary and professional development for teachers. The resources are available for use in classrooms and
from home for all staff and students.

Fast ForWord Family of Products
ERAC has reached an agreement with Scientific Learning to make the Fast ForWord family of products available
to ERAC members at preferred prices. ERAC member discounts will apply to purchases of two or more perpetual
workstation licenses. This agreement covers each Fast ForWord product series.

Gale
ERAC has established an agreement with Gale for the Student Resource Center Gold and
Biography Resource Centre databases. Student Resource Center Gold offers easy access
to content based on national curriculum standards. It covers the major subject areas
including history, literature, science and social studies and provides the tools and
information to complement lessons and assignments to attach the context to students'
learning. Biography Resource Center is Gale's biographical online reference database.
The information contained within Biography Resource Center covers a multitude of subject
areas including science, multicultural studies, business, politics, government, history,
entertainment, sports, arts, and literature.

Inspiration, Kidspiration, InspireData, WordQ and SpeakQ – Strategic Transitions ERAC has an agreement with Strategic Transitions to provide member districts with access to Inspiration, Kidspiration, InspireData, WordQ and SpeakQ. Inspiration and Kidspiration are visual learning based tools that help students develop ideas and organize their thinking. With InspireData students investigate, manipulate and analyze data in science, mathematics and social studies. WordQ can be used along with any text entry suggesting words to use and provide spoken feedback to help find mistakes. It is for users of all ages and can particularly benefit those with learning disabilities. SpeakQ is a companion to WordQ enabling users to dictate words into any standard Microsoft Windows document.

Media Awareness ERAC has purchased a provincial license for Media Awareness Network’s professional development series, Web Awareness Workshops, and a companion in-class resource for secondary students, Reality Check! Evaluating Online Information. ERAC is making these resources available to ERAC members at no charge. The Web Awareness Workshops are available from now until May 31, 2010 while Reality Check! Evaluating Online Information is available in perpetuity. These resources are available in both English and French.

The Microsoft Academic Select 6 Agreement offers a range of products at reduced educational pricing. Schools can obtain pricing through various authorized re-sellers. This three-year agreement permits member districts to acquire software at preferred pricing, without having to meet minimum threshold volumes in the following three pools:

Microsoft Learning Essentials 2.0 Microsoft Learning Essentials is available to ERAC member districts that have purchased Microsoft Office through an Academic Volume Licensing agreement. Microsoft Learning Essentials 2.0 is an Office product benefit that runs on top of Microsoft Office to give students and educators a custom Office environment with tools to help them in the classroom. Curriculum-based templates and toolbars for Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel are provided in both a teacher and student-based environment. Teachers are provided with more than 117 templates and 38 tutorials for classroom handouts and presentations, grading rubrics, and classroom management tools.

SMART Whiteboard Products
ERAC has established an agreement with SMART Technologies to provide ERAC members with preferred pricing on qualifying SMART interactive whiteboard products.
The agreement offers ERAC members lower prices (shipping-included), on a range of SMART products. The agreement is effective immediately and runs until December
31, 2010.

Testonline ERAC has finalized an agreement with Testonline which provides a service that enables schools to conduct online math assessment testing for Grades 3-10. Teachers, principals and administrators have 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-per-week access to both individual student and division data that enables them to customize the classroom learning experience. The Edmark House Series
ERAC has established an agreement with IBM Canada’s K-12 Division, with support from the BC Ministry of
Education, to provide The Edmark House Series software to BC schools and districts at no charge.
The series helps to assist Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 2 children in building basic skills, both prior
to their entering the school system and throughout their primary years of learning development. Access
to resources is available on the Learn Now BC website, www.learnnowbc.ca, which is operated by the Virtual
School Society. This interactive software program is also available for home use.

Tumblebooks TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books that teach students reading skills in a format they enjoy. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books, in order to produce an electronic picture book users can read or have read to them.
